reply

"Tough Guys" is now available on DVD, catch is it's only here in Australia, so it's region 4. I am suprised that it hasn't been release on DVD in the U.S Site to go to is www.ezydvd.com.au

thak you so much

There is a region 2 dvd as well, I saw it for sale in a Virgin Megastore.

Republicans dont watch stand up, theyre busy watching cartoons, trying to see who's gay.

reply

Yeah, I wonder why there's no Region 1 DVD. This was Messrs. Lancaster and Douglas' last film together. They look like they had a great time shooting this movie; two old friends playing off each other superbly. Very entertaining action comedy.

reply

Really should be available on DVD. This is a great movie--funny, clever, fast-moving, well-crafted. I love how it shows the 'old guys' as physically able and mentally competent, not to mention sly and quick-witted. The actors did great jobs creating their characters, and it's always a blast watching this film. But it needs to be on DVD!

reply

They are probably assembling some trailers and whatnot for a US special edition. I found a copy of railpace that has an article on the movement from Portland to San Fran. Pretty cool info.

why is that tough guys has never came out on dvd yet?

reply

Whenever people ask me why I still have my VCR, I point them to this movie.

reply

Definitely. With all their millions, Hollywood doesn't make much sense. 'Tough Guys' is one of the best comedies ever. Lancaster and Douglas together in classic style, like Matthau and Lemmon. There is comedy in there that only applies to them. I can't believe the producers haven't released this movie on Region 1 DVD (and apparently aren't planning on it anytime soon). Shame on Joe Wizan! IF YOU LOVED THIS MOVIE LIKE I DID, BE SURE TO VOTE FOR THE DVD RELEASE ON AMAZON.COM!!! My trusty VCR -- which had the coolest invention built into it called "commercial marking" that displayed a blue screen and fast forwarded through commercials when playing back TV shows -- finally died on me right in the middle of phasing out my old collection of VHS tapes and I've been putting off buying a new one. Guess I'm gonna have to go out and buy the VHS and a new VCR before I can see this movie again. Bummer!

reply

I was able to get the DVD from Australia. Even though it is a Region 4 DVD, it plays flawlessly in my Oppo DVD player.

Come on, somebody put this highly entertaining movie on DVD! What's the problem? Is there an issue with the rights?

reply

I don't understand why they haven't released it on Region 1.

Why can't we just get rid of regions altogether?

reply

I bought it last year in Widescreen R2 DVD. Wonderful experience. At least the UK has a few desent R2 DVD's releases.

reply

Why is this not on dvd. Of all the 80's movies this should be on dvd. Tough Guys is funny as hell!! The Hitman steals the show.

reply

It should be obvious by now as to why this is not on DVD. Three possible reasons are:

The song by Kenny Rogers that opens the film.
"Nasty Boys" by Janet Jackson
"Tuff Enuff" by the Fabulous Thunderbirds, which was used as the main theme

It's never there when I need it, always when I don't.

reply

TOUGH GUYS is available on R2 DVD from Germany under the title ARCHIE & HARRY on the Buena Vista label with English soundtrack for less than 10 Euros.

...now I do it just to watch their f----n' expression change.

reply

I am also suprised, this is not on dvd. I've always like this movie.

And it's a great transfer, beautiful image and sound. Artwork that came with it is generic but that's easily fixable.

reply

Never mind DVD! I demand an HD transfer on BluRay -- or at the very least iTunes/Netflix/Amazon. I haven't seen this movie since '88 and would love to experience it again.
