The 80s weren't as advanced as that

Cars that talk to you!
A store that has a virtual member of staff- well not virtual (reality) but on a TV so virtual all the same!
I'm sure there were a few others if you lovely people want to point them out too.

Because these guys came out of the 50s and straight into the 80s, they tried to put these outlandish ideas in to emphasise the transition from past to present and really punch home that fish out of water theme in the film.
The result was funny, but also had us going- yeah..... Alright !!
Maybe that was intentional, but I think if they had explored 80s verses 50s tech a little more there would of been no need for this, the contrast was good enough in reality.
Yep I know, it's only a movie, and one which I love no less ?

I wonder what they would have thought of 2016?

"Cars that talk to you!"

Actually we did have cars that would talk in the mid 80's. But not many.it was just some basic Commands. Seat belt, low gas, etc. The Store with a guy on a Telly. I never saw one. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen thou.

Chrysler had cars in the 80's that barked orders at you. I am sure there are plenty of videos on YouTube
