Doesnt Pluthar look a little like a goofy version of Louis Gossett Jr's character from Enemy Mine?

i especially like how he keeps coming on the television and warning the world they are in grave danger and keeps apologizing for it.

People of Earth, A stray energy beam from my substation may be headed for your solar system, and could possibly result in the total annihilation of your species. I'm so terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

I think Pluthar looks more like the Kraken from Clash of the Titans.

Yes, it was a little funny, the way his message came through. Which, due their own faults, led to many of the characters not believing the actual threat.
