Remote Control (1988)
Videodrome (1983)
Bad Channels (1992) (Another film from Ted Nicolaou)
The Brain (1988)
If I think of any other film that might be similar to this one, I shall edit this post then.
You will also find "Monster in the Closet" in the Earth vs a cheesy monster department. It's by no mean a serious monster film and it's rather silly/funny.

and yup, I concur on "The Stuff". It's an other one of those 80's fun and trashy classics that has the same philosophy.
Don't be forgetting 'Killer Klowns From Outer Space'!
share"The Brain"
"UHF"
"Tapeheads"
Someone mentioned Brain Damage, which is a cool suggestion, stylistically.
I think Phantasm and The Gate go along well with this movie, with kids as the main hero in both, fighting something that seems born of a kid's nightmare.
"Stink, stink, stink, Mr Murdock!"
"Phantasm" and "The Gate" go well with this film, and I agree that "Brain Damage" is an cool suggestion. Some others that are probably pretty obvious are the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series, "It" and "Pet Sematary."
shareI was thinking "Basket Case" and "Video Dead" -- neither of which I especially loved but are similar. For 80s comedy horror, I like "Return of the Living Dead" which is credited for introducing "Braaaaains!" to the zombie lexicon.
Night of the Comet
Meet the Hollowheads - weird creatures
The Census Taker - no aliens, but has the 80's feel and same parent/kids relationship.
Rubin & Ed - weird 80's feel but no aliens/monsters
would Nothing But Trouble fit in to this list?
It has a kind of surreal feeling to it
Wait a second.. this is a food restaurant we dont serve salad
I haven't seen Nothing But Trouble.
I bought a used DVD of it not too long ago, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
Unfortunately, it is only available in Full Screen.
It definitely sounds weird and interesting.
Yeah I had to buy another copy of it last week cause I accidently cracked my original dvd I had for years being careless, sucks about it being 4:3 only, I saw a HDTV rip of it on a torrent site that says its 1920x1080

Wow, that sounds like a very interesting movie. Looks like it has never been put out on DVD though. If there was a $5 DVD out there, I would probably buy it to pad my next online order for free shipping.
This is a great thread for interesting movies. I think I have them all on my Watchlist.
