WHY WAS THIS FILM ON TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES ?????

TerrorVision was on last nite on TCM. It was very late at night past 1am on California time. I didn't watch it and wanted to but was mostly upset that it was on TCM. Why o why are they showing movies from the 1980's on TCM ?

This movie was relased in 1986. I was born in the 80's and am only in my 20's It tears me to pieces to see movies from the 80's and 90's on TCM. These movies are only about 20 years old (10 yrs ago for the 90's films). And they do not belong on TCM. Since when does a movie like Terror Vision belong on a channel with such stars as Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Elisabeth Taylor and Clark Gable ?

It is a comic horror movie from the 80's and it does not belong on TCM!

What the heck is going on at TCM ??????

TERRORVISION is a cult (underground, perhaps?) classic & deserves all the respect & airings it can get so it can be seen by more people. Its a fun movie & if you can't see the fun in it then you're better off watching a more serious type of movie.

It aired as part of TCM Underground, which is a collection of cult films that airs late night Fridays.

I think it was an an effort to fan enough interest back in to warrant a wave of Netflix rentals.

Why was Point Break shown on the "golf channel",, why does MTV only show crappy reality shows,, Why do any of them show programming that has nothing to do with the channel

oh and the other night the gay channel LOGO showed "Misery"

Why aren't you fussing about the lead-in film: "Night of the Creeps"?

Besides, TCM has shown a number of Eighties sci fi/horror on the Underground evenings. I certainly don't mind, as long as they keep showing all of those golden and not-so-golden oldies. Now, if they shifted their format to modern era, I'd understand the fuss. A few hours on the Underground is a great experience.

Is there a similar movie out there about a tv station being overtaken by an alien signal?

There's a film titled "Stay Tuned" (1992), in which the Devil sends a couple into a satanic TV set filled with warped copies of various TV series.

IMDb synopsis:
The Knables (John Ritter and Pam Dawber) are having marriage problems. Roy is a plumbing supplies salesman by day and couch potato by night, and his wife, Helen, is a successful senior product manager for a vitamin company. Roy watches too much TV every night, and Helen just cannot stand it. Then one night, Helen offers Roy a night to save their relationship: a romantic getaway without phones, their children, and especially no TV. Unfortunately, when Roy's hooked on the big screen, there's no going back. This frustrates and angers her, and Helen decides to smash the family console with one of Roy's trophies as a wake-up call to reality. A heartbroken-to-disoriented Roy then hears the doorbell and finds out that it's a mysterious salesman named Spike (Jeffrey Jones) who offers him the "ultimate getaway" from all the hate, frustration, and failures: a new remote control and a new state-of-the-art satellite TV.

oh my goodness, I think that is one of the movies I've been trying to remember the name of for a while!!!

Thank you Thank You Thank You!

Sometimes the two films get confused by people. Or, they remember one but can't quite recall the other. I think it would be fun if TCM had a mini-marathon of these films sometime on the Underground.

I was trying to think of that one, too. Thanks, MystMoonStruck!

BTW, I wonder if "UHF" starring Weird Al Yankovic qualifies as a movie about a TV station being taken over by aliens?? just a thought... lol

TV GONE MAD! Sure! We could have a three-movie marathon of them! I still recall the giant boulder following Al around a corner! LOL indeed!

People of the Internet, you must heed my warning. Destroy your satellite receivers, dismantle your communications systems, render your TV sets inoperable for the next 200 Earth years. A stray film from the TCM Underground may be headed for your broadcast system and could possibly result in the total annihilation of your channel's integrity.

I'm so terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

The folks at TCM have gone insane. They are re-running this one. It's on RIGHT NOW. TCM.

What happened to GINGER ROGERS and FRED ASTAIRE?????????

Check this out---I rented out this film back in the day--late 80's---and I accidently broke the dang VCR I was watching it on (it was someone's else, actually.) About a year later--and this is the strange part---I'm flipping through channels on the TV one night, land on one local channel, and guess what's on the TV? Yep, it was TERRORVISION--again. And what was weird about that was the fact that the movie was at the exact part in the film where I had to stop the VHS tape because the aforementioned VCR broke. So I ended up watching the rest of it and enjoying it ( I didn't like the nasty stuff the alien dumped on people---that was gross.)

The only part of the film that actually made me laugh out loud was the scene where the alien goes after the dude in the leather suit with all the chains. As for the actors, I only knew the then-little Chad Allen from played an autistic boy on the show ST. ELSEWHERE, and the crazy long-haired rock-star looking dude in the black leather outfit w/chains was played by cult actor Jonathan Gries. ( I can't even remember what his character would supposed to be, but he cracked me up.) First and last time I saw it on TV---I only remember seeing a scene from it on USA'S NIGHT FLIGHT show, which was a treasure trove of underground film/music culture,,most of whom you wouldn't be seeing on MTV due to its explicitness,or its just being plain too damn weird to show anywhere else.

They've shown much more recent movies, like The Astist.
