awkward for us that watch it in latin spanish, language in which La puta means "the whore".
the characters kept saying things like "we have to find Laputa" or "Laputa's power is the dream of all mankind!", or "Laputa's power is the dream of all mankind!"
both my wife and I just kept looking at each other, trying to distract our kids...
other than that, nice movie. a bit long.

It's pronounced differently enough that I don't notice it, but when I see it in writing it is difficult not to think of the pejorative.
Was there a Spanish dub? If so they must be taking the piss because in the English one it really don't sound like "la puta" as you would say to insult.

The latin spanish dub makes it sound exactly like La Puta 'the whore', same pronounciation, same accentuation (la-PU-ta) as the filthy word... IMO they should have made up an entirely different word to name the castle in the latin spanish dub.
For a spanish speaking person this movie, great as it is, is almost unbearable to watch because of that one word being repeated all the time...
