Another film with the same title?

What a great film! I was pointed to Tampopo by a friend when I mentioned that I was looking for a Japanese film I saw years ago at a film festival in Edinburgh that involved a lone hero arriving in a village who helps a young woman/mother who is being forced out of her home/business by an unscrupulous landlord. Noodles were involved! I was convinced the film was called Tampopo. Obviously this is not the same film especially since I seem to remember "mine" being in black and white and set in perhaps medieval times. Does anyone know of another Tampopo or recognise what film I am remembering?
