creepy scene with young pearlfisher

...am I wrong, or is the pearlfisher only, like, 10 years old??? She sort of makes out with the white linen-suit guy.... yikes....

reply

You're right but the whole movie is what's called "ironic." He's a professional gangster and hence, supposed to be a creep. But Itami is satirizing the scene, the character and the Japanese mafia here and later, when he did a whole movie on them, and got himself stabbed.

reply

She probably appears to be much younger than she is.

reply

According to IMDb, she was 20 years old.
Japanese women normally looks much younger than they really are.
Charlie Harper knows that.

It weirded me out when I first saw it. But in watching it again, there is a gaggle of older women pearlfishers looking at them kissing and practically applauding. So...she must not have been THAT young.

reply

She looked very young, but 10 years old?? Come on. She looked at least in her early teens to me. I dunno, 14-15. Maybe I can tell ages better cause im...asiatic.

eating his blood sensually was a bit weird to me though...but whatever turns you on.

reply

I thought she looked very young at first when judging by her face, maybe 12 or 13. However when her breasts are seen through her wet shirt you can tell she's older. 18+ and very pretty.

Not so long ago an adolescent Brooke Shields was prancing around half naked in films and nobody gave a damn. Nowadays people got so stuck up about it. Kind of weird given that the age of first time sexual encounters among adolescents sinks lower and lower.

It is not true that Brooke Shields precocious sensuality in Pretty Baby was universally found to be acceptable when it aired; MANY people found it objectionable and still do find the overt sexualizing of increasingly younger girls to be Very Troubling.
This is not about what real young people may actually choose to do, but about the proliferation of images of girls as sexual objects. There is so much more to being female than being seen as sex-worthy!

We see the world, not as it is, but as we are.....

I believe the person you were replying to was referring to her role in The Blue Lagoon, which was very different.

No, they are definitely referring to Pretty Baby, Brookes first movie, it was somewhat controversial when it came out. Have you seen it? (Spoiler ahead). She's 12 and lives in the brothel her mother works at. Her virginity of auctioned for a great amount and it goes on from there...... She's fully naked in some scenes, I was amazed it got pass censors etc

reply

It is Japan. Different rules apply.
Deal with it.

reply

It's not wrong to think it strange but I didn't find it that creepy.
