Why film in Long Island, NY when it is supposed to be South Carolina???

I was always confused by this movie. It supposedly takes place in South Carolina. It is about the "Battle of Cowpens" which took place in South Carolina. The director of the movie within the movie says the battle took place nearby. And all the extras speak with Southern accents.

So why film this movie out in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY???

Anyone know why?

Because Suffolk county rules, baby.

Signature? Huh? Oh damn...

Because Alda is a NY based actor and the eastern end of Long Island has many quaint towns.

Not the first time a movie was filmed somewhere other than where it is supposed to take place.

And lots of Rev War reenactors are on LI, and were available to the production.
