I'll agree that Breaking Away is a much better film but Stand by Me has its own virtues, a solid film.

As I watched it, I liked Stand By Me, but when it veered off into that Lardass silliness it lost me. It's not really bad, but me for me, I'd rate it a 4/10, just under average, not to be watched again.

Each one has four dudes who are friends and hang out together and have to deal with toughs in the town and both sets prevail or defeat them in their own ways.

They are both good in their own ways.

Though I prefer BA and it is my all time favorite movie and have a copy of it.

I do not for SBM and don't care to.

So yeah, Breaking Away breaks away for the win!
