You’re dead!

When Ace says ‘you’re dead’ to Chris at the end of the film - you certainly believe him don’t you. The conviction with which he says it, you believe every word, that he’ll actually go through with it. I believe he definitely would’ve too, had it not been for the gun shot. Terrific acting by Kiefer and all the guys all round.

Stand by Me is a brilliant film, no doubt about that. However it is extremely underrated and it was criminally overlooked at the Academy Awards. It was nominated for only one award - Best Writing. It should’ve at least been up for Picture and Director. Rob Reiner deserves more credit.
