What Stand by Me boy are you?

Girls feel free to answer too.

I would say I am the Gordie of the group. I was the shy, bookish one and my siblings and cousins were the popular, sporty etc type. I was always compared to my relatives.

I saw this film for the first time when I was 14 and identified with Gordie, even now 10 years later Gordie still reminds me of myself.

Mrs Voorhees is watching you!

I'm definitely the Gordie of my group - misunderstood, not very confident or outgoing but introverted (in the Myers-Briggs sense), pensive and passionate about writing.

One of my best friends growing up reminded me so much of Teddy. Crazy kid who had some family issues in his childhood and it showed in his teenage years. He was also, like Teddy, the most "militaristic" of our group.

We even had a Vern - fat, nerdy kid who we always picked on. As we were reading Lord of the Flies in school, the poor guy also became our "Piggy".

Lastly, my best friend from childhood to this day is like if you took Chris and also made him the comedian of the group, in addition to being the more peaceful and kind-hearted leader.

reply

I was a Vern. The fat kid who took all the insults on the chin so he could be a part of the group.

I like this thread!

For me....Vern.

To a 'T'.

Gordie is the protagonist. We see the events through his eyes.... as you can see from these responses, most people are saying Gordie. Its only natural.

Take most ANY film... you're gonna relate most to the person telling a first-hand account.

reply

I'm female but totally Gordie. When my friends & I saw this in theaters we quickly picked who we were

reply

I do the same thing with all female cast movies. Like in the movie Now and Then I was the fat girl.

reply

I'm her too but as a kid I was very tiny. I'm only 5' as an adult so as a kid I was, of course, way shorter lol It's sad the actress who played her passed away.

reply

wow I didnt even know she died...Google says a Heroin Overdose. So sad.

reply

I see myself as Teddy Duchamp seeing as my dad burned my ear on the stove

reply

I was a mix between Chris and Teddy.
Rough home life made me a bit of a criminal and a bit unstable.
Luckily, like Chris, I straightened up once I grew up and moved out of my childhood home.

reply

A mix between Chris and Gordie. I was more thoughtful than my most of my friends, but also got into a lot of stupid shit. I was definitely quieter than Chris, but definitely not as awkward as Gordie.

reply

In ways I see myself as Vern because I am an easy target for people poking fun at me because I was different and a very gullible person.

reply

All of them.

I'm probably most like Gordie, especially at school (i.e. the quiet, over-sensitive, creative type), but now I'm older I see bits of me in the other boys too. I'm a lawyer, like Chris, who tries to be the responsible one who breaks up fights, but I also have a bit of Teddy's hotheaded, hair-trigger attitude, and Vern's goofiness and optimism.
