Those two guys who keep telling the jokes

How many times is Howell in a room and overhears these two guys telling their racial jokes? That to me is the funniest part of the movie, I mean the number of times he comes on them they must be sitting there telling those jokes all day. I wonder if the directors meant to have that part be so obviously unbelievable, or if it was just a way to get more of those guys jokes in there and help the story?

Either way it works for me, I can't stop laughing when those guys have a scene because no matter where or when he sees those two guys they're telling one of those jokes. They must tell them in their sleep.

It's good cause amidst the hilarity, it makes you think... it reminds me a lot of a callous piss-take artist I knew at school - knew but didn't like. The plot and characters were strangely realistic, despite the set-to's and planned jokes. Teenagers and young adults ARE really like that...today! Real dickwods.
And despite the teen movie silliness, the main characters e.g. Mark, were actually identifiable & likeable*.
Best things about this film are the ways it pokes fun at real life, life through the lens..

* edit - e.g. innocence, folly and naivety.

what was the punchline for the test tube baby joke at the end? i listened to it a bunch of times and couldnt figure it out.

reply

Janitor in a jar.

So bad.

reply

No, it's janitor in a drum. "Janitor in a Drum" was some brand of cleaning something or other.

One of the guys is Ronald Reagan Jr - Former President Reagans son

if that's true that is just one more thing that makes this movie awesome/hilarious.

I actually experienced something like those two guys back in high school. They wouldn't tell racist jokes, but more sexaully graphic ones about girls giving b***jobs or the best ways to do a girl in the a**. But it seemed no matter where I was (library, lunchline, hallways), these same 4-5 guys would be prattling endlessly about what girls they wanted to nail or get sucked by.

Ron Jr. was in the movie, but in the scenes where they play basketball. He wasn't one of the guys telling the jokes.

It's not supposed to be believable in any way... That's 80's humor for you. Don't you miss it?
