Cool Hand Luke references

I loved this movie as a kid and just watched it today for the heck of it. I wish they would have developed the plot more.

Anyway, the police officer with the mirrored sunglasses that was after them reminded me of the one in Cool Hand Luke. Did anyone else see a connection?
