I real stinker is the movie you just can't watch out of sheer boredom. This movie, I was curious how it would end and the production values were good enough.
If you want a bad movie, it probably has Mark Hamill and Keanu Reeves battling each other...
The beginning and end scenes were cool. As were the parts where Jami Gertz discovers her father's tribe of people - but that lasts barely 5 minutes. If the whole film was like that then it would've been great.
The section where they leave the camp is just like watching Mad Max.
Overall, it was okay. The 80s certainly produced some of the most visually interesting films for young people - the tone, imagery and themes are so unique to that time, and all evident to some extent in this movie.
ps Must be rare to have the two main characters of a movie (Jason Patric and Gertz) star together again just a year after this came out in The Lost Boys.
