shareHaha yea, "Solarbabies".. when Corey Haim remade this it was called "Prayer of the Rollerboys", a horrible title to be sure, but still not quite as bad as "Solarbabies". When I saw the title on cable I skipped over it figuring it was some kid's movie about space children or some shizz..

You're all wrong, Highlander: The Source is the worst movie of all time.
I saw this when I was a kid and I can remember enjoying it, I'd have to see it again now to be sure, but it could not possibly be worse than the movie I mentioned above.
Sounds like we need a lesson in subjective opinion. For one, this movie is A. made for 80s kids, B. more for chicks than dudes. Considering the high budget crap made these days...a simple look can see that this movie had a decent budget as shown by the production design. I remember when it came out and avoided it while I did see the Lost Boys which has more than a few actors from Solarbabies.
As for the subjective opinion thing...I am blamed for it a ton. A friend and I smear movies like Independence Day or anything made by those guys and these people we know argue for simple pleasure movie experiences. You can parse this apart by showing polls that would clearly label Michael Bay as the worst charlatan the world has ever seen, but in this world money is power..so he gets to remake great films that never needed it. Suspiria is being remade this year and while I think that is like remaking Jaws...others see Suspira and hide their fear by ripping on the dated film style, or huge European eyebrows as an Asian friend of mine complained.
And back to Solarbabies...I think this movie possesses heart...which I know the guys who said this movie was lame have no love for...but they should watch Movie Bobs reviews on the Escapist dot com..and would probably agree with his geeky opinions on genre films that he credits with "heart". He even did a review of Heavy Metal...which many of my generation never saw so it held a mystique that it in my objective opinion and Movie Bob,s falls short of the mark.
I respect this movie because in looking at all the actors bios, I saw that many of them worked and still work in genre films, and while I don't like every genre film being made out there...I do appreciate the stopped clock philosophy in how these genre films are being churned out.
It's one of the worst I've heard so far. It almost made me NOT watch it.
