One of the worst 80's slasher movies

I've seen tons of 80's cheesy slashers and i enjoy them, but this was truly terrible.

You're wrong.

One of the worst?

Have you even seen Blood Cult, The Ripper, The Majorettes, Berserker, Honeymoon Horror, Return to Horror High, Last Slumber Party, Terror at Tenkiller, Offerings or Home Sweet Home? lol, if not, stay away.

HEY!

i love the ripper and terror at tenkiller...

but everyone has their own tastes

I think this film has a certain charm that makes it stand out among other 80's slashers. Yes, there are tons of glaring plot holes, but the atmosphere and over-the-top characters make it effective.

"The Last Slumber Party" wins my vote for worst slasher film of the 80's. No contest.

Josh!!!! Didn't expect to see you here (GOT btw)

And for the record, Blood Cult *beep* rules.

Either way, I completely disagree with the original post. F-ck that noize. Ya wanna see a BAD slasher movie? Get Gore-Met: Zombie Chef From Hell.

reply

Haha, wow! Hello there GOT. ^__^

Yeah, after a while, you revisit films like Slaughter High and The Forest...and after seeing many many worse movies, you start to like the ones you took for granted.

I'm actually one of the 30 or 40 people in the world that actually liked THE FOREST on first viewing. I still have my VHS (though I haven't watched the VHS itself in years since I made a DVD-R from it). I've still yet to get the DVD.

Speaking of DVDs, I did like that Lion's Gate used a VHS master for this so it preserves the look of the movie, but I was pretty disappointed that there weren't really any decent extras. I would have loved to hear a commentary or a documentary on the making of it.

reply

I actually liked Return to Horror High. It was campy, but I enjoyed it. Haven't seen the others mentioned.

Slaughter High isn't bad either. I chuckled when the one guy scared the girl while wearing a mask and then said "Who did you think I was, Jason?" Heh.

reply

I was loving the interesting kills in this movie. There is no way that is the worst slasher flick.

you bow to me now you blow me.

reply

This is not the worst movie - maybe the worst music - but not movie. The kills were awesome and I felt good for Marty that he was able to kill off each and every jerk responsible for making his high school years miserable and ultimately destroying his life. I didn't feel sorry for a single one of them! The worst horror movie was Sorority House Massacre 2 - hands down!!

reply

Sorority House Massacre 2 was a fun movie! I just couldnt get into Slaughter High

reply

This is not even close to one of the worst. It is quite bad from a technical standpoint, I'll even grant you "terrible" at times, but isn't that part of the charm? Even most of the GOOD slashers were bad on that level. I mean, what sort of standards do you use to judge movies like these? If your complaint is that the acting or writing is bad, then you shouldn't be watching a slasher movie. I like this movie's badness. If you want to see obnoxious stereotypical characters killed off in inventively gruesome ways, you could do worse than Slaughter High.

And if you watch a movie called Slaughter High, don't blame it for being terrible.

reply

This is not even close to being one of the worst 80's slasher films. Actually I've always really liked Slaughter High and still go back to it from time to time. Try watching Drive In Massacre or Slumber Party Massacre II...those are garbage.

"Have you paid your dues Jack? Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

reply

Both of those are perfect examples of "bad" slashers that are truly NOT FUN to watch. Slaughter High is a lot of fun.

i had never heard of this until i saw the dvd in a store. tell me what 80's slasher flicks you would recommend.

reply

80's slasher flicks...hoo boy, theres TONS you should watch!!! The Sleepaway Camp series, Night of the Demons series, Night of the Creeps, Demonwarp, ALL the Halloween and Friday the 13th films, Neon Maniacs, The Unnamable, Maniac Cop, Pyscho Cop........... try those.

"Sleepaway Camp series, Night of the Demons series, Night of the Creeps, Demonwarp, ALL the Halloween and Friday the 13th films, Neon Maniacs, The Unnamable, Maniac Cop, Pyscho Cop"

Night of the Creeps, and Unnamable aren't slashers. Night of the Demons is stretching it too, but I can easily see how they mesh demons and slashing,

As for the guy who said Slumber Party Massacre II as one of the worst slashers...shame on you! It's comic gold!

seen Sleepaway Camp original, and most of the Halloween/Friday the 13th's probably edited on tv, other than the original Halloween, which i own.

reply

Not even remotely close to one of the worst.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

reply

Mine for 'far worse':

Don't Go in the Woods
Madman Marz
The Mutilator
Headless Eyes
Rawhead Rex

I put Slaughter High in the same league with Nail Gun Massacre, Texas Chainsaw 2, Hills Have Eyes 2, Sleepaway Camp. Too stupid to hate, a certain Z-grade charm that you could at least laugh at and managed a few good gore effects. The titles above didn't even do that, and were just 85 minutes of paint-drying.

I'm a huge fan of The Mutilator....both Madman and Don't Go In The Woods I love because of their cheesiness.

Rawhead Rex is a slasher? Huh.

Ok, it's a monster slasher, but another foreign made bloodfest like Slaughter High.

I agree. Not close to one of the worse. After much back and forth I decided to buy a cheap vhs copy off of Amazon. I always read reviews and do some research before I buy and I wasn't dissappointed. The ending was the worse part to me. Lots of things that don't make sense that was previously posted like the electricity and water being on. But all in all it was a fun movie. Oh and one of the worse in my book: Class Reunion Massacre/The Redeemer. This has a similar story where classmates come to the old abandoned school for a reunion and then get locked in and killed. This one was horribly done. Very confusing. I don't want to have to think too much when I watch these things. I also bought Deadly Intruder, Cutting Class and Dont Open The Door.

reply

I love The Redeemer, own the Code Red DVD. Loads of fun.
