Marty's real life suicide..any details?

I see that Simon (Marty) actually committed suicide just a week after the film was released. Any details on this guy?

reply

He died of an opiate overdose which probably means heroin.

reply

So was it accidental?

reply

Maybe some jock gave it to him. Who knows...

Huh? Suicide is never accidental....

Using heroin is not the most common of ways to kill yourself, most heroin overdoses are accidental. I'm asking if Simon killed himself on purpose or was using and accidently overdosed

hmmm, this was featured on Joe Bob Brigg's MonsterVision, he mentions the actor committed suicide, most likely because he suffered from chronical depression. He also mentions that people who worked on this movie thought Simon kept to himself because he wanted to stay in character, but he was actually depressed.

Maybe not much detail is about because his family wanted privacy from the press, who aren't the bastions of sensitivity at the best of times. Just a thought

'I like the way you made the movies longer. They're better that way.' Sinister

I don't think he was famous enough for the press to be involved, Simon died in 1984 and the film came out 2 years later
