Gary Oldman is just the best actor

He is just awesome in every film.....the true meaning of the word Actor.

To me Gary Oldman is kind of hit or miss. Where he's really good in films like this, 'Rosencratz and Guildenstern are Dead', and 'Dracula', in others he just overacts to a fault like in 'Leon the Professional', 'True Romance', or 'State of Grace'.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to it's awesomeness.

The three you listed as his worst are easily his best performances? You need to re-assess what you think makes good acting of you feel like old mans performance wasn't anything short of amazing in those three roles you listed.

Overacting is Oldman's MO; he's never been shy about it and he's gained a cult following largely because of it. While I too was alienated by his OTT performances in Leon and State of Grace, I thought he was tremendous in True Romance (and The Fifth Element).

I thought his character in Leon was superb, ok yes I have to agree perhaps a tad overacting was present but for me it made it all the more enjoyable. I haven't seen R&G are dead....I will check it out.

I think he is a great actor. The first film I saw him in was Sid & Nancy, the next was Prick Up Your Ears. He was brilliant in both, his likeness to the actual person is amazing.

No, I mentioned the bisque!

I think he is One of the Best Actors if not the Best Ever!!! Every movie he is in he is Excellent how he can look like Sid in Sid and Nancy then a few years later look and sound and act just like an Irish gangster in State of Grace and then like Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK, And look and act like a Crazed war Veteran in Chattahochee and so on and so on and so on. He is the absolute best oh I loved him in R & G are Dead (I always misspell both those names) "fancy a game" lol great movie. Then again all his movie totally Rock!!!!
