He must have taken that long to edit the movie because yes, it is Stroker Ace that Burt Reynolds is filming. You can tell by the racing outfit he is wearing. The logo on the outfit had something to do with chicken (the chicken thing was a big part of the movie) and that is clearly what he is wearing.
If you notice throughout the film the people and the styles resemble the 70's more than the mid 80's and if Stroker Ace came out in 1983 it was probably filmed in 1982. Ross says something about having filmed for a year so I would guess Sherman's March was filmed in 81 and 82. The ending credits list Ross as camera person, sound and editing so it probably took him 4 years or so to get it done.
Thanks. I haven't seen Stoker Ace but thought it might be the movie. Lucky he was in costume at the time. Otherwise I couldn't guess.
