A couple of odd scenes in this movie - spoilers

David Naughton's character slapping Jennifer Dale's character late in the movie qualifies as spousal abuse but was treated as no big deal. I guess that spousal abuse wasn't seen to be as serious back in 1986 as it is today but my recollection was that the mid 1980s was a time when the subject of spousal abuse really came into public awareness. With that in mind, I am surprised to see that scene treated so casually in this movie.

The second scene which raised an eyebrow was David Naughton's character only too willing to have sex with his 14 year-old babysitter. While intercourse was not completed as Naughton's character backed out at the last minute, the fact that he was naked and on top of the young girl would constitute sexual abuse of a minor in and of itself.

This movie won't go down in anyone's book as a classic but there are a couple of funny scenes - most notably the one with Harvey Atkins' character ready to engage in a threesome with Naughton's and Susan Almgren's - and the two aforementioned odd ones which have a different meaning today than perhaps they did back in good old 1986 when this movie was made.

That's why I love this movie! Woman gets lippy? Five across the mouth! 14 year old babysitter offers it up? You take it! He's a Pepper, after all!
