RUNNING SCARED 1986 - (Billy Crystal/Gregory Hines) - The Best Movie You Never Saw

The eighties were the heyday of the buddy cop movie. The year before LETHAL WEAPON came out and make the genre even more popular, Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines were Chicago cops on the trail of a drug lord (played by Jimmy Smits) in RUNNING SCARED 1986 by director Peter Hyams (2010, CAPRICORN ONE, TIMECOP). While a solid box office hit (there was even talk of a sequel), in the decades that followed RUNNING SCARED would become somewhat obscure. That's too bad as it's a really good cop comedy/action flick, with some terrific set pieces, including an amazing chase along Chicago's EL tracks. And Billy Crystal as an action hero? Hey - NOBODY thought Bob Odenkirk could do It either! Who knew? And it's also the movie that introduced Michael McDonald's "Sweet Freedom"! Join us on this week's The Best Movie You Never Saw as we dig into this underrated gem.
