The Cop Buddy Movie that 'Bad Boys' wanted to be...

I loved this film then, and still do now.

Everything was done right, the casting was spot on and the characters worked perfectly.

I Especially loved the "Rule-Breaking" of the cops to get Snake to co-operate, stealing his fifty thousand dollars.

It flowed well, moved quick and was a sharp as a knife.

Bad-Boys, not nearly as good as this classic.

There's a film being made now called Running Scared, I was so glad to see it's not a re-make... it would never be as good.

TBS had Bad Boys and then Running Scared right afterwards tonight. I think they are both laugh out loud movies and have a really similar spirit that I never noticed until I saw them back to back. RS is my favorite of the two and I would rank it as a true classic but Martin Lawrence's stuttering when he's trying to explain things to his wife is hilarious. And I thought BB II raised the bar for action cop buddy movies, though it had a different tone. Smith and Lawrence have great chemistry together but I agree Hines and Crystal have more, they feel more natural to me.

Running Scared was a much more enjoyable film in every respect.

Hines and Crystal were just so relaxed and natural, it made the film a joy to watch. You got the impression that their characters simply loved going to work every day because they had such a ball.

I also agree with you guys! I saw this film on the big screen when it came out, and I loved it then!
I just scored the DVD, and it's GREAT. (One small gripe: I would have LOVED to hear commentary on this film, I don't care from who... But the DVD I got had only a little "making of" short, shot by B. Crystal.)

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

Bad Boys I suppose, is kind of what you get when you mix Running Scared, with Police Story with Jackie Chan and Miami Vice.

That's a fair assessment. Running Scared was remade in Hong Kong as Tiger on the Beat.

Bad Boys is more like Police Academy 4 mixed with Police Academy 5.
