Other films located in Florence?
I love so much this town and its fascinating history, that`s why I`d like to find more films having Florence (Firenze) as a location, besides this lovely "A Room With A View". Any suggestions?
sharenot really Florence but movie "under the Tuscan sun" is set in Tuscany and shows some Florence as well. I liked Under the tusacan sun but its little cheesy for me.

1. One of the most magic films set in Florence is "Tea with Mussonli"- Maggie Smith, Judy Dench, Joan Plowright, Lily Tomlinson and Cher. A group of English women refuse to leave Florence at the outbreak of WWII. It is the true story of Franco Zefferelli, the director. Even though it is set during the war, it is not a violent movie. The added bonusses are that it goes to the incredible town of San Gimigniano, and there is a standoff between Maggie, and her son who plays the part of the Scottish Major.
2. "Enchanted April" is not set in Florence but in a small castle on the coast of Italy that four lonely English women rent for the month of April. Joan Plowright, Miranda Richardson etc
3. "My House in Umbria" is also set in Italy, but not Florence. Maggie Smith is a battered but resilient woman who makes her fortune in writing Love Stories. When the train carriage that she is in blows up, she takes the survivors home to her house in Umbria. Among the survivors is a little American girl, in a state of trauma and unable to speak. Ronny Barker plays his last role as an aged English general.
WARNING: Don't check out the IMBd comments because a lot of them spoil the story completely.
4. Another movie set in a town in Italy is "Where Angels Fear to Tread". Much of the cast of "Room w a V" in it, and there is actually some cross-referencing as the woman in "Angels" is mentioned in "Room with a View". It's beautiful, but be warned, it's a tragedy..... I could never bear to watch it more than once.

Dear Aussie, thanks for your posting, especially for mentioning "Tea With Mussolini". Florence and the entire Tuscany are magical, enchanting places; I`m still waiting to find more films about them, if possible ones depicting the times when the Medici family ruled the state-town.
There even is an episode in "Seinfeld" telling about Tuscany! After dealing with some "mafiosi", Jerry and Kramer got to spend holidays there, and obviously enjoyed the experience.

I attempted to watch this over a year ago as it came free with the Sunday Times, however I didn't find it as enrapturing as RWAV, however I didn't last til the end, so I might have to try again sometime.
