They were dog rough even twenty years ago! I remember a reviewer at the time described them as 'a pair of greasy faced witches'.

Bob, despite his eighties casuality and family saloon, is unlikely to attract any real stunners...and remember that ugly girls try harder. His wife is slightly better looking but doesn't put out, thus proving that looks aren't everything.

Yeah, due to their looks I think they were well cast for the parts. Not that michelle holmes is ugly, but she's no super model. They just seemed like normal girls. Fashion and time hasn't been kind to them either, the clothes and hairstyles don't help.

I'm sure Bob still enjoyed the dual fumble on the front seat all the same (and don't forget it was fairly dark)

Rita and Sue weren't supposed to be a couple of supermodels, they were supposed to be a pair of typical council-estate teenaged slappers whom Bob wouldn't have to work too hard to get. And they looked the part 100%.

I was wondering about that. The girls aren't attractive at all. Never mind that they are dressed shabbily, they just don't look like much. What's Bob into them for? Michelle may be a bag of potatoes but two awkward thick teen virgins are the bomb? There's got to be something else out there Bob could look for. But he trolls the estates? This is what we call "slumming it"!

Either that or Bob is a pedo and goes to the estates for young girls because he figures over there, no one will care? (he's not half wrong, anyway).

I don't know, I think they're kind of attractive in a way. It might just have been me I suppose but I think they're all supposed to look a certain way and they fit the bill perfectly. It was the 80s after all and everyone looked like *beep* so that's nothing unusual - they don't look any better or worse than other portrayals of men and women in the realism films from this time.

Plus while I can't claim to have seen a lot of Michelle Holmes since, Siobhan Finneran is looking pretty *beep* good in a bikini in Benidorm so underneath the crappy 80s clothing there was some very good basic material!

Like most men, Bob was so horny he would have slept with any girl who was offering (and probably did). I think he had a high sex drive anyway and what with Michelle being frigid...well, a man like that was never going to be satisfied with, erm...'solo relief'.

I disagree about George Costigan being unattractive at the time and think he was very well cast, as was everyone. Everything about this film rings true for me and that's why it's been so popular since it was released on video back in the day.

I agree with the poster above about Siobhan Finneran (though I rarely watch Benidorm). She looks great now, much better than what she did when this was filmed in 1986.

I think we've all slept with someone that we didn't actually fancy for some reason and this was the case with Bob, he didn't fancy either of them, he just wanted a quickie and also an ego-boost knowing that he could still pull two girls in one night.

If Michelle had been a total nympho, Bob wouldn't have even gone with either and hence there would have been no film :)
