Yes, the '80s was a crap decade in the UK, unless you were in London or had North Sea oil money. The midwestern US wasn't a land of plenty either.
shareThe fashions and colour schemes are just how I remembered them. Around that time it was considered trendy to have Jocasta Innes wall stenciling, rag-rolling paint schemes and Laura Ashley soft furnishings. Futons, mirrored closet doors and red/black/white colour schemes for boys' rooms were very much the in thing. Advocado-coloured bathroom suites, artexed ceilings and very busy carpets too. It's a wonder we didn't throw up.
