Last night on the Andy Griffith marathom on TVLand, the trivia info said that Barney and Thelma Lou finally got married in a later show. Is this the show? I never knew they got married, and I thought maybe the trivia was wrong.
shareYes 20 Years later when both Barney & Thelma Lou returned from a visit they were married. Don't forget when Barney left Mayberry in 1965, for his new job in Raleigh, when Warren first became deputy then Goober sometimes in emergencies, Barney had a new detective job up in Raleigh. Thelma Lou came to that Mayberry Union High reunion & was married to someone else after she & Barney both left Mayberry in two separate directions, however Nellie from Ashville who was an old flame of Barney's had a temporary relationship with him but that ended & then came the famous Teena Andrews & when girls from Barney's office developed an interest in him, then it was on & off with different others.
But in Return to Mayberry 20 years later, Thelma Lou just got divorced & she & Barney started over & realized they loved each other & yes did decide to get married & when Andy did return he & Barney again had their old jobs back. But Opie & Eunice were leaving Mayberry for Opie's big new position.
Oh yes Andy & Helen were finally married in fall of 1968, a few months before Andy left for Raleigh & Opie has a half brother named Andy Junior who wasn't mentioned & if he was born in 1969 & it takes place in 1986 then his age, was, 18 & I guess he couldn't make the Mayberry visit & just went to college at that time. At least Andy Junior had a mother who raised him yet Opie didn't for 10 years even though Andy was in a relationship with Ellie then Peg then Helen.
