Timing of reunion and show

The movie came out in 1986, however Andy Griffith left Mayberry in 1968 after 8 seasons on TAGS. It is mentioned on the movie that it had been 20 years since Andy had left, so apparently there is a goof up or continuity in the number of years of Andy's departure and return.

Umm, I believe that would be 18 years, Dinodak.

Well then, it's obvious that Andy was just rounding up the number of years he was away.
