Raw Deal or Cobra

both these actors are being the same ole same ole guys we've seen before. But I give the edge to Arnold, he has to be a small town sherrif and then go on to become mobster/tough guy, with a bit of humor. Stallone doesn't pull it off so well, his monotone speach and short sentences are very Ramboish. Arnold has to be a bit comical here and achives it very well. Who else could say... "He molested, murdered and mutilated that girl!" Pure poetry. Rocker Bob :)

What an embarrasing comparison!! I have seen millions of mediocre cop crap films like Raw Deal but i've never seen before or after anything like Cobra, that film was incredibly unique back then which also gained an incredible amount of cult following over the years. Cobra wins hands down. Cobra was also a little idealistically and politically more meaningful film than RD.

Raw Deal has Arnold wearing a checkered shirt tucked into tight, tight blue jeans. He also sports a slicked back haircut for most of the film. And he also shoots people from his car whilst listening to rock clasics.

Cobra has Stallone falling in love with Brigitte Nielsen.

Smart I like, smartass I don't

Both rock. But I think the Nightslasher and his non-sense New Order (Which consists of... well... killing) is just too awesome. BRian THompson rocks

IMHO, both black spots on the actor's careers. Although I still own both of them on DVD. Have a hard time getting through either of them, though...don't think I have watched Cobra all the way through since buying it on DVD. Raw Deal I just got a day ago, and tried to watch it a few times, but I think I basically hate it. Or I am too miserable to exist.

Cobra

I liked the scene in this one where Arnold is driving around shooting the guards and the gunfight at the end (aside from the weak finish), but I'm partial to the end of the movie fight and this one didn't have that mano-a-mano struggle at the end. Neither film is all that great in any event. It'd make for a decent film if you combined the better parts of each of them though.

"Attempted murder? Now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel Prize for attempted chemistry?"

Cobra by a mile.

You Arnie fans are BEEPIN crazy

Cobra looks like a masterpiece compared to Raw Deal

reply

Raw Deal for sure.

They are both 80s classics in my opinion; but Cobra is by far better. The car chase alone does it. And it has better one-liners.

reply

Are you kidding? Cobra was so ridiculous, it may as well have been a cartoon.
"Go ahead... I don't shop here."

Hands down Raw Deal. Arnold arms himself to the teeth and single-handedly takes out the entire Chicago mob in a classic shootout. And Robert Davi was pretty damn cool in this movie, aside from the fact that Arnold kept punking him. Cobra was good too, but mob movies are always better in my opinion.

No deal.

"and has stubble and a tooth-pick."

I hate to be nit-picky, but it was even more badass (or cheezy?) than that!

It was a matchstick, not a toothpick.

And do not forget the black leather racing gloves.
