We have two kids who were in a bomb shelter for 15 years that read nothing but 40s detective novels. They finally come out of the shelter after 15 years to a post WWIII world. This sounds like it would be a enteraining (yet stupid) movie but the movie was just stupid. I was hoping to find some dumb fun in it.
My advice is to skip this one and go with A Boy and His Dog as a better trashy post WWIII film.

Oh, wow. A Boy and His Dog is 100% superior(good b-movie) to this trash(bad b-movie) and actually is funnier(final line alone), which I guess isn't a hard thing to accomplish since this movie is entirely without humor.

Yeah. I had some hopes because of the decent premise for a b-movie but I made it about 3/4 through and had to shut it off. It just....fails. I can kind of enjoy "My Science Project" and "Christine" and didn't think John Stockwell was that bad in those but he's goddamn terrible here. Always talking low or out of the side of his mouth, sometimes with a whimper. His brother in the movie is even worse, in what I can only call one of the more annoying performances I had to endure in awhile. How is the hell did Stockwell last as he long as he did with that moron in the vault? I would've strangled his ass with a quickness.
It also looks aesthetically terrible in a variety of ways but that's something I could forgive if anything else was worth a damn.

The voice of Michael Dudikoff is the most annoying voice I've ever heard in a film. I'd rather listen to Jar Jar Binks sing Christmas carols... Not sure if I can finish this one.
