Carter Burwell's Score Appropriated By...?

I just had a rather strange experience. I'm sitting in a Starbucks and suddenly a track from this score came over the sound system -- the track that accompanies Maureen leaving the convent and walking to the road.

The first few seconds were terrific. For starters, it was instantly recognizable. There was absolutely no perceptible moment of, "I'm sure I've heard this before...but where?" And it served as a fitting reminder of how terrific the score is.

After about thirty seconds or so, it became clear that "this is the remix, y'all"; some synth drum kicked in, and some kind of background vocalizations -- you know, the kind of stuff that you hear in Starbucks all the time.

Anyway, that first thirty seconds was deliriously enjoyable. The rest, eh, better than a kick in the face, and I hope Burwell got some coin for its use -- particularly since it's the same recording, not just another performance, or a few notes here and there -- but a bit disheartening too.
