Better than the original?

I really liked this movie a lot . Norman looked SOOO creepy when dressed as his mother and had such great lines. Loved the final chase scene, though it should have been longer

I agree that this film is highly underrated.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

I don't think any sequel could ever beat the original, it's a classic for a reason. However PSYCHO III is an excellent, underrated, creepy film

Agreed.

I really enjoy this movie too. I can watch it over and over.
While the first two, while both very good, don't have the same watchability.

This one is better paced than the original, but I think that is more the product of the time it was made in. Movies in the '80s were differently done than in the '60s.

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

Better paced?? Faster paced for sure, but that certainly doesn't equate better unless you have a low attention span.

the original is great but i prefer 2 then 3. i'm not going to say original is better just to sound like some intellectual movie reviewer wannabe. 2 and 3 are scary, suspenseful and creepy and the character of norman bates is wonderful in these. original is great, and i like part 4 too. just my opinion. find myself watching only 2, 3 and 4, ner really consider watching original much anymore. once in awhile i do though

It's easily the worst sequel. It's just a cheesy slasher film, I don't get how so many people like it.

reply

I think it's generally under-rated but have a feeling it would have been more widely acclaimed if the studio hadn't interfered.
Anthony Perkins' direction is highly impressive imo and the more overtly 'slasher' moments were not ( as far as I'm aware) his idea and were only added when the studio wanted more gore.
For me though it is still an excellent film and the first two sequels are fine additions to the original film- neither in the same class as the original imo but then again few films are.
Psycho 4 was interesting but a considerable step down in quality.

I too like this movie more than the original

I'm a little worried that at first glance my brain substituted the word 'sexy' for 'creepy'...
