PROMISE!

Please, please release this masterpiece on a DVD! It was streets ahead of 'Rainman', especially in the acting department James Garner AND James Woods should have won awards!

reply

Amen! We get all these third-rate made-for-home-video travesties, while this 24-karat masterpiece languishes in the non-DVD category. A shame, definitely!

reply

AMEN!

This is such a powerful movie I have never forgotten it.

Strangely enough, my boyfriend [who is 47] is facing a situation like this, and I would dearly love for him to see this movie.

reply

Well, this film is about a completely different condition. DJ is a schizophrenic, while the characters in Rain Man was an autistic savant. They could hardly be more different.

But I agree that this is a fantastic film.

reply

I don't think it matters that the mental conditions are different. It's the exploration of the relationship between the brothers that is relevant.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

I also wouldn't mind seeing it on DVD or at least on TV a little more often. I watched it four years ago on Hallmark and was very impressed.

I did not get a chance to see this film but I remember the reviews were fantastic. I searched online all my favorites sites for a DVD version but found no offers. Finally I found this site: http://www.ioffer.com/i/PROMISE-1986-James-Garner-James-Woods-51582321
I'm a little skeptical to order the DVD here since I've never heard of this site before. Has anyone?
