is this the same movie as...

..."Summer School". I mean, obviously the answer to this question is "no," but it's got the same stars and appears to be a nearly identical movie.

And this is more than two movies with similar plots because all hollywood likes to repeat itself.

There are other examples. Currently coming to mind are two Kim Bassinger movies: 1993's "The Real McCoy", which was a loose amalgamation of 1972's McQueen/McGraw vehicle "The Getaway" and another novel; and the 1994 Bassinger/Baldwin remake of "The Getaway".

the list of films wtih similar plots is huge, even those not intended as remakes. just think of how many versions of it's a mad, mad, mad world there are: cannoball run, million dollar mystery, and rat race are just a few.

Ain't we a pair, Mr. Raggedy Man?

yep its a million dollar mystery why do people have to....use the same plotlines for many many movies....

actually its not really since movies with familiar plotlines tend to make money if done well...look at how many fish out of water cop movies there were and just when you think their can't be anymore along comes Rush Hour and makes millilons....

LOL! I always confuse "Summer School" with "Prince Of Bel Air"!

Is this the same movie as..."Summer School".

I came here just to see if anyone else noted the similarities.

Despite the fact that both movies share four members of the cast and the same general locations (the Los Angeles area), not to mention a romance between Harmon and Alley, the stories are very different. This one came first and is a drama with some romance akin to "Lifeguard" (1976) whereas "Summer School" was released a year and a half later and is more of a high school dramedy in the mold of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (1982).
