Got to see this again on the big screen-in 2015!!

Here in Arizona we have a chain of theaters called Harkins; glad to give them free publicity.

A few months ago they started "Classic Tuesdays", showing classic movies and it's only five bucks, too!!! Last night I got to see PiP and was shocked that the theater was virtually empty, given the enduring popularity of this film.

While I loved the film, I left feeling down as I graduated high school in 1983 and the 80s were the best decade for me. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles (likeomigod, THE Valley, ya know?!)and remember punk in all it's glory, listening to New Wave on KROQ and shopping on Melrose for vintage clothing.

Sigh................

I thought for a second you must live near me. I got to see it on the big screen too recently (in Texas...we have a similar Classic Movie Nights thing). It was pretty cool because I was obsessed with that movie when it was shown on USA network repeatedly in the 90's. A lot of people showed up wearing pink and everyone applauded when Andie and Blaine finally got together in the end. It was great.

Lucky you; got to see it in a relatively crowded theater with patrons dressing up and getting involved in the story!

A movie is always enjoyed more when the audience is large and/or gets into the mood of the movie, the ultimate expression of this is Rocky Horror Picture Show, of course.

Is your chain also Harkins? This month is a fantastic lineup: Jaws, Goonies, Braveheart, Big and Apocalypse Now, WOW!

No, I've never heard of Harkins, but we have an old theater which only shows classic movies now. Maybe your theater needs to advertise a little better and more people would show up...I know it's more fun that way. When I heard the radio ad for the Pretty in Pink showing I knew I couldn't miss that opportunity. Wow, those are some great movies...have fun getting to see them how they were originally intended.

I too graduated in 83 and it was and always will be the best time to be in school. And even though we all had our on taste, whether it was clothing or music we all got along and 95% of the movies today that involve high school that are "supposed" to be funny get there inspiration from The 1980's. I could go on for days about the 80's . but like momma says "what's old is new again "
