At school dance that weird version of Our House by Madness

The first dance, a song being played that sounds like 'Our House' but is like a key off, with the chorus 'Eileen.' Like Hughes wanted to use Our House but couldn't get the rights so used a knock-off.

What school dance? Are you thinking of a different movie? The only school dance this has is the prom and that was all OMD.

Exactly. Sixteen Candles has the song hat sounds like Our House.

Yeah, not sure, but it sure does sounds crazily like Our House. Maybe they sampled a little but not enough to get in trouble or got permission to use a few beats and change the first couple words and then quit?
