I have a question for fans who have seen the movie a few times: can you actually see Gardner getting hit (with squibs going off) on screen? Every version I have shows a flare getting in the way of seeing him actually get hit. We can see him stand up, move and shoot, flare, he goes down. I cannot see him take the hit.

However, I swear I saw a version on TV (channel that doesn't cut movies for content, but I don't remember which one though I think it was IFC) where you could actually see him get hit, as if the flare was either removed or the color was altered so we could see it. Has anyone else seen this and / or does anyone know if there is a version that shows this?

Eh it's a very quick cut and I think you'd have to slow it down a lot to be able to notice. I used to watch this on a recorded VHS and yeah I couldn't tell what was going on due to the poor film quality.
