She was just a friend of Peggy Sue's from high school but they didn't end up showing her in the past. I read that at one point in the script Peggy Sue was gonna use her going back to the past and knowing about stuff to save Rosalee from the accident that put her in a wheelchair but that idea was scrapped.

In the original script, Rosalee was a high school gymnast who breaks her back and becomes paralyzed, and when Peggy Sue goes back in time she tries to convince her to give up gymnastics or something like that. Also, the pantyhose invention is played up more in the original script.

Perhaps in the original script Rosalee became paralyzed while wearing some of the pantyhose that Peggy tried to (incorrectly) invent.

Yep it's not important, but that could still have been a funny little time traveling / sci-fi parody joke in the movie.

Like a serious lawsuit/liability claim happened with those newly invented "pantyhose" when she got disabled by the product, so it lead to them ultimately never being invented.

So because she tried to invent them and that accident happened, back in the present of the movie, there's now no such thing as pantyhose, because they were never re-invented/backed by investors after the accident.

I agree with you, in fact I believe there were extra scenes filmed with Rosalee, but it was decided to cut them. So ultimately, as I said, she becomes someone who isn't very important in the context of the story we see played out.🐭

It would be like spending time seeking out the mafia, Castro, Ruby, LBJ and the CIA to stop the assassination of JFK. Better still tell him not to go to Dallas.
