I was surprised from this movie, it was made in 1986 as a B-movie under a small budget but it sure turned my head when I watched it.
I recently purchased the DVD and now I love this movie. This movie could use a good remake, its theme about vietnam veterans readjusting to life could be mirrored by Iraq war veterans since both wars are alike in many ways.
Stephen Peters, The Park is Mine. It's much more brutal than the film. it's in some ways a blatant ripoff of First Blood, but it's got a different story. Worth a read. I'm gonna be selling my copy on eBay soon, so I'll give ya a heads up. I'm only sellin it for $1 and actual shipping (no handling charges). It's hard cover 1st edition, but the covers all torn up. Also, I only take Postal Money orders and Cashiers checks, I'm DONE with PayPal.
I'll let ya know and give ya dibs. Wont be till after the NY.

Thanks but I don't use eBay and I live in Sweden so the cost would be a bit much. But after a quick search I found it at both a library here and a Swedish auction site.
Thanks for the title and the recommendation though.
Cool. I think you'll like it very much. Even tho it's similar to First Blood, it's an entirely different story. The film doesn't even come close, tho I do like the film.
Surprised to know a library has it. It took me years to track it down thru auctions, used book stores, library's. One day I was playin' at coffee shop next to a used book store and there it was right as I walked in the door!

I love this film for its gloriously ludicrous plot twists, with the real doozy being when the corrupt city officials hire a couple of scumbag mercenaries to take Mitch out in the wake of Mitch achieving folk hero status with the general public.
I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find
