Hilarious Costumes!

The best parts of this film are definitely enhanced by the costumes. Of course, that may just because I'm a costumer, but...I particularly think that The Tempest costumes added a certain something to the hilarity. Prospero in gold foil and vinyl? I swear I saw Lucille Ball wear something like that hat with the weird ear antennae when she was being an "alien" on I Love Lucy. Ariel looked like she was swallowed by a carwash brush and rolled in glitter. What a hoot. All the waitress atrocities (Mare Winningham has never looked so campy!) brought humor to every frame they were worn in. And I would love to know if the sales of long johns shot up any after Rosanna Arquette wore them in every other scene. She certainly did a lot for them...it helped that they were probably silk long johns. Not much to laugh at in Eric Roberts ensembles. He looked good any way he showed up. My thanks to the costume designer, Ellen Mirojnick.

Don't forget Cassie's Halloween costume too! It was all happy and peppy and balloon-y and then she stabs her boyfriend in the neck with a fork!
