Watched this movie on an very old VHS..which Iam updating!....and it really has the feel of the SATC series. (Not that I'm a fan at all, trust me.)
Something tells me this movie was maybe the inspiration for that show....??
Hmm. Maybe a little. Mr. Big is a bit like a more tame version of John in this film. And the feel of New York is not dissimilar - despite this movie taking place about a decade earlier.
I can't see the similarity. Nine 1/2 Weeks feels almost like an art film, with minimalist dialogue and heavy symbolism. SATC was talky, garish and intentionally over the top. Tonally they are very different.
