Theory about the ending (SPOILERS)

I think that the library burning might be an allegory of the Library of Alexandria being destroyed at the hands of religious fanatism.

Being condiscending was uncalled for. I read at least 11 books per year, and I read "The name of the rose" before watching the film. What's your goddamn problem?

Of course no one really knows which event truly destroyed the library's contents. It could have been during the Civil Wars. Or it could have been during the Muslim conquest of Egypt.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.
