Confused about a few things

I loved "My Little Pony" when i was a kid so i bought both the movie and the first season on DVD. However there are a few things i'm confused about. First off I was wondering if anybody could remember which came first the movie or the T.V. show. I aways thought the T.V. show came first but as i was watching the first season on DVD it starts off with the 10 part episode "The End of Flutter Valley". Now that seams to be continued right from the movie with the witches from the Volcano of Gloom and everything, but i really thought the show came first?

Also i'm confused about the length of the epidodes. On DVD they seam to be like 10 mins long but im sure i remember My Little Pony as a 30 minute cartoon?

Can anybody help me out with these things? I would really appriciate it.

Thanks

As I recall, the MLP episodes aired with other things, like the Glo-Friends, which added up to a half hour (minus commercials, of course).

The situation is now so terrible that we have no choice but to BEGIN WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

"rescue at midnight castle" & "escape from catrina" were the first ever cartoons they were released on the same video(in the UK) but never shown on tv.

The video introduced the ponies and how they found megan. The ponies were drawn slighty differently than the cartoons that followed, they were taller, longer-legged, skinnier etc. The ponies in this video were some of the first made by hasbro(and often the favorite/most remembered by the 80's children of the world) ie moondancer, twighlight and skydancer. It also featured dream castle alot which unfortunatly the following cartoons didn't,prefering to focus on(now on sale in all good toy shops) paradise estate -damn commercialism! both stories were aprox 20mins long.

"my little pony the movie" The one with the smooze, shortly followed, this was the full lenght movie shown at the cinema. It was also shown on good morning Briton(like GMTV) at the same time it was shown at the pic's( what was that all about then???) I remember my dad taping it for me-it was hosted by Michaella Strachen.(I'm full of usless info eh!)

Any way.....
this one was IMO the best of all the pony cartoons. It had my fav pony Fizzy in it for a start.

All the rest of the cartoons followed but I'm not sure what order. As a child I had "Tambelon", "dihna" and "sweetstuff and the treasure hunt" on video, along with "the quest for the princess ponies" and the "prince and the pony". None of these ( that I'm aware of) were ever shown on TV untill years and years later when I saw them on Sky1 at 5am!!! I had just come in from a night on the alchopop at the tender age of 18, Imagine my excitment of finding out there were loads more pony cartoons I didnt know about(ok the alcohol may have added to that excitment a little)

Anyways for more info go to www.dreamvalley.com it has all the movies listed with synopsis

From what I know there were 2 specials, "Rescue from Midnight Castle" and "Escape from Catrina", in that order that introduced the ponies. Then came the movie with the smooze and it's sequel "The End of Flutter Valley". Finally came the series. At some point the flutter valley movie was cut into 10 separate episodes and became the first 10 eps. of the series. Hope that helps.
