I just saw this movie for the first time today...

...and I'm 32. :) I was on an MLP mailing list in the 80's because I had mailordered one of the birthday flower ponies, and I remember getting a mini press-kit like thing for the MLP movie. But, I was starting to outgrow the ponies at that time, so I didn't ask to be taken, and then I just never got around to seeing this movie, on cable or by renting a tape or anything. A couple years ago I got it in my head that I wanted to see it but it wasn't on DVD (I'd look for it routinely) so I didn't get to see it. Then I was at a Toys R Us today looking for something (that they didn't have) and they had this movie on DVD. I bought it, I was so excited, and I saw it when I got home.

I admit to not watching the MLP series when I was a kid (again, like I said I was outgrowing ponies right about then - besides, I was more of a He-Man/She-Ra and Thundercats person), and I was afraid I wouldn't like this movie. But it was pretty good (the songs weren't as bad as I expected they'd be). I hear the series was a tad dark, too, so I may have to check it out sometime (but I can't afford to buy the DVD sets or anything). Did they bring the giant spider back in the series? He was kinda cute (lol I like spiders). I guess the witches were used in the series.

I think the spider was called "Ogg" it's not in any of the series I have seen( altho' there are a few I've never watched)the witches are only in "the end of flutter valley" and this film.

If you prefer the darker/monster "baddie" cartoons you're best to look for "fireflys adventure" which is also known as "rescue at midnight castle/escape from catrina" or to a lesser extent "tambalon" and the "quest for the princess ponies"
as, as far as I remember these were the ones with the best villans, and were not as girly as the others
