Anyone know anything about the Wigs?

This band has some great songs in the movie, but I have never been able to find any records, CD's, tapes, etc. by them. Does anyone know anything about them?

reply

I've been looking for forever..the internet has been no help...I'm afraid the wigs are lost in the 80's

reply

Me too. I have searched high and low. If anyone ever comes across recordings please post information here.

reply

It's hard to believe they could have appeared in a major motion picture without at least having an album they released themselves.

reply

I've only found that the lead singer of the wigs was in a short lived monkees remake..........suppose I'll have to live off of taped off of tv tapes...uh yeah hahah...maybe I should wake up before I post!

I just watched this again -- it's been a while!

The WIGS [Milwaukee, Wisconsin]
The Wigs were a Milwaukee pop band from 1979 to 1982, then relocated to LA and existed until 1986, when Marty Ross became a "New Monkee". The Wigs (Jim Cushinery, Big Bad Bobby Tews and Val McCallum) continued as the '57 Braves and released one single in 1987. A movie called My Chaufeur included some songs by the Wigs, with tracks like "Blind Deaf & Dumb" (written by Jim Cushinery) but apparently the soundtrack has never been released. Jim Cushinery and his partner in The Wigs, Marty Ross, have recently remixed their album for a 20th anniversary re-release.

Jim's website http://www.donovankoeberl.com/cush.html states that the Wigs 1982 album will be released to cd in 2005

I looked at amazon.com but no mention yet of this album. I'd like to buy it.

The actual website for the Wigs is www.otherw.com. It's being renovated right now, but there is a place to sign up for email and a message board. thanks for your interest,

Wow! A post from the "big wig" himself! :-) (Sorry, couldn't resist!) I was following the remix diary over at the website but noticed it hadn't been available the past few days. Looking forward to the CD release. I love "My Chauffeur" but would watch it anyway just for the music. It'll be great to finally have more music from the Wigs!

I, like ALL of you, have been trying to get the Wigs music or information about the soundtrack to "My Chauffeur", for years... Obviously, to no avail! I am so glad to hear that The Wigs are going to re-release their music this year!! Any talk about the "My Chauffeur" soundtrack being released?? If anyone hears any info, please post here. It was like this (for me) when they finally decided to re-release the "Valley Girl" soundtrack back in 1994-1995....!! I love the music from both of these 80's treasures!!!

Hey everybody -

The original Wigs message board was destroyed by hackers, so now there's a new one at www.otherw.com/bored/

We're still working on the remix of our original LP, which includes SOME of the My Chauffeur tracks in their original state. While we're doing this, we're starting talks with the film company about doing an actual My Chauffeur soundtrack CD. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for your continued interest.

Jim

I'm happy now!

This is such great news! Add me to the list of people who've searched high and low to be able to find some of this music. I'd love, love, love a My Chauffeur soundtrack.

I'd like info on how to obtain the soundtrack to this movie; in particular the song by the wigs: "blind, deaf, & dumb". Killer song, and I'd like to get a copy of it on any format if possible.

Thanks!

Unfortuantely there was never a soundtrack. Jim Cushinery from The Wigs has said they might try and get some of The Wigs music from the film released as part of The Wigs CD project he was working on, but he has been saying in his podcast that he has some interest in a script he wrote so it is hard to say how much time he will be able to devote to the CD for the time being since it is more a labor of love I think than a money maker. But if you like The Wigs, be sure to check out Cush's solo stuff and podcast at http://www.cushrocks.com.

They just played a gig in Milwaukee last night (like a 3 hour set, it was friggin' insane) and they had their first album "File Under Pop Vocal" (Or FUPV to the kids) on sale there so I can only assume It's going to be released really soon. Hopefully the reunion wasn't just a one-night thing as I was not alive during their hayday and would like another chance to see them.
