Blu-Ray Release

Any news of this happening? Especially after Daniel won his third Oscar, you'd think studios would try to milk that. Fingers crossed I can own this on HD soon.

It looks as though it is happening, and the Blu-ray will be released by Criterion. But much as I love this film, why? MBL was originally filmed on 16mm with the intention to show it on TV. (It says a lot about British TV that such a film could have been made for it; certainly no US network would have done it.) Whn they decided to go for a theatrical release they blew it up to 35mm. The grittiness and graininess of the result suits the material very well, but what will it gain on Blu-ray?

Yea, I just watched this film for the first time last night on the MGM HD channel, so it was in HD but obviously the picture was still very grainy. This isn't the type of film where you are waiting to be wowed by the picture of a Blu-ray release. Nice little film it was, though.
