For a lot of very interesting facts about this film (I enjoyed it very much when I rented it out some 15 years ago,and it was a trip to see how naturally the gay relationship was portrayed) check out a book about the film I found recently--it's called MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE by Christine Geraghty--it's a Turner Classics Movies British Film Guide---it gives you a better understanding of the film and why it was considered so important and groundbreaking in its day, espefcially if you like it. I love British films and MBL was the first one I'd seen dealing with South Asians in Britain, so it was a refreshing departure from the norm of British films I'd seen at the time.
