DVD RELEASE ????

Has this movie been released on DVD? Anybody know?

"Ethel Thayer". It sounds like I'm lisping, doesn't it? Norman Thayer

It was released by Troma but is out-of-print now. You might be able to score a used copy somewhere, though - I'd check Half, Spun, and SecondSpin as well as Ebay.

What about the nine kids I DIDN'T lose this week?"

Do you know what Troma's connection to this film is? Was it just the distributor for the video release? Judging from the trailer I just saw (very limited, I know) it doesn't look like the Troma type of movie, even in the '80s. I'll have to seek it out, though, because it looks like stupid fun.

That's a great find, and this looks like a very entertaining film. You actually saw it before? I hadn't heard of it until I saw the trailer on another video a couple months ago.

Thanks for the reply. A weekly Troma night sounds so cool! I wish I had seen this on the big screen. When I saw the trailer recently, it seems like one of those "spoof" trailers that "Saturday Night Live" does for movies that never existed – it's just seems so '80s, so over the top, so weird and yet geared toward a younger audience. I must see this film!

Troma had nothing to do with the production of the film until late in the post, nearly two years after the footage had been shot. The producers were up against a wall - they'd overspent and under-budgeted, so their only option to complete the fim and have a release was to essentially 'give' it to Troma. They put the minimum in to finish the film and open at 'seven theaters nationwide'. Lorimar picked it up for video distribution and it went straight to the video racks.

It's a shame, because with the proper post and marketing - this could have become a more well-known film and potentially could have actually made some money. The cast was great, full of notable actors and performances. While stressful during the shoot - looking back it was a great experience.

I bought the DVD for this film for ten bucks at the Troma Booth at the Chiller Con in Central New Jersey a few months ago, so it's still available for purchase at a reasonable price.
