Let's settle the language question

We all agree there needs to be a proper new edition of this film for the international market, but there seems to be a lot of confusion about what the original language of Momo is.

The IMDb states "English". However, a minority of fans have seen the film on videocassette with subtitles that don't match up with the lips. Other than John Huston, the actors are mostly Italian. Is the language Italian, with the dubbed German language track the only version currently available? Can anyone confirm, and update the IMDb listing for us?

If so, we need a proper edition of this film. Some video remastering would be nice. But, at the very least, we need this released with at least two audio tracks: the original (if that's Italian) and the common German dub. In addition, subtitles in at least German, English, and Italian. Other languages would make sense too if the film is to be marketed beyond Europe and N.A.

I would assume people spoke their native languages, with the intent to later dub over them - like spaghetti westerns did. Meaning the German dub is the closest thing to an original intended audio track.

Does John Huston speak Italian in the original recorded audio? I find that a bit hard to believe...

I can read from the lips that it's mostly English actually. Sometimes Radost Bokel talks German, as she is German. If some people talk Italian, I couldn't see it properly... but I don't think so: Leopoldo Trieste and Bruno Stori talk English together in a scene where there's no one else; so, I hazard a guess that English is actually correct :-)
