What about George

Was I missing something? Didn't she kill George by accident, as he was defending her? Then Oliver and his father said that they covered up everything, so she should not to worry about being tried for murder? Also, why did they keep that letter from George to her, which opened her eyes on what was going on? She loathed him and yet had a baby with him? Finally, the end said that she and George were living happily ever after in America. Confusing, to say the least. I guess I mistook that he was murdered and that they pretended to her that she did kill him and arranged to get rid of him by sending him to America. Not a bad movie but most of the times I couldn't hear or understand most of her dialogue.
P. S. Hated that rat scene.
